A new hardback volume, 'Movements of the Visionaries,' offers a raw look at Tangerine Dream’s foundational years. The collection draws from the archives of late photographer Marcel Fugère, who captured the group across Europe during their transition from experimentalists to international icons.
The first volume focuses on 1972 through 1974, a high-stakes era that saw the band sign with Virgin Records and release the landmark 'Phaedra.' Fugère’s lens followed the trio through Berlin, London, and Paris, documenting the gear and the grind behind their first commercial breakthroughs.
Manager Bianca Froese-Acquaye collaborated with researcher Brad Duke to curate the project, which includes thousands of previously unseen frames. It is a necessary visual document of the Kosmische Musik pioneers before they redefined the possibilities of the synthesizer.
Volume 1 is available now through Eastgate Music, with a second installment scheduled for 2027.
