Tangerine Dream: Archival Photobook Documents the 1972-1974 Kosmische Peak

Movements of the Visionaries is more than a coffee table book; it is a visual audit of the 1972-1974 window that defined Tangerine Dream’s legacy. Published via Eastgate Music, the 320-page volume features over 480 images—many previously unseen—taken by the late Marcel Fugère during the band's essential runs in Berlin, Paris, and London. This period marks the group’s transition from experimental fringe into the cultural vanguard. It covers the production and touring of Atem and Phaedra, albums that fundamentally altered the trajectory of electronic music by introducing the modular, sequencer-driven soundscapes that still echo in modern synthesis. The project was curated by manager Bianca Froese-Acquaye and historian Brad Duke, following the discovery of Fugère's massive archive after his death in 2015. It underscores a time when the trio’s output was at its most potent and uncompromising, far removed from the commercial polish of later decades. Movements of the Visionaries is available now. A second volume, continuing the historical deep-dive into the band's visual identity, is currently slated for release in 2027.
