Talay Riley, Grammy-winning songwriter and collaborator, killed in East London

The music community is mourning Talay Riley (Mark Orabiyi), who was fatally stabbed in Silvertown, East London, on June 5. Police discovered the 35-year-old artist with fatal injuries at a garden site shortly after 9AM. A second victim survived the incident. Riley was a heavy-hitting songwriter with a range that bridged the gap between underground and mainstage. He co-wrote the Grammy-winning track 'Lights On' for H.E.R. alongside his brother, Scribz Riley, and provided essential vocals and writing for Tiësto, Kelela, and Wilkinson. His influence touched several corners of the UK and international scenes. Collaborators including Stormzy and Craig David shared tributes online, highlighting Riley's role as a mentor and fixture in the studio for over a decade. Metropolitan Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the murder. Investigators are currently seeking CCTV footage from the area to assist the ongoing case.
