Ticketing giant StubHub has introduced FestProtect, an insurance-style extension of its FanProtect Guarantee. The platform provides a framework for claims when উৎসব (festivals) fail to deliver on basic event promises or succumb to external disruptions.
The system operates via three tiers. Tier 1 tackles the heavy hitters: total weather cancellations or headliner dropouts, offering replacement tickets or credit. Tier 2 addresses schedule clashes that force fans to miss sets, while Tier 3 handles operational friction like excessive queuing and overcrowding.
Claims aren't automatic. Users must submit evidence—ranging from weather documentation to screenshots of conflicting set times—to qualify for upgrades or rewards. It is a tactical move to restore consumer confidence in a market increasingly plagued by permit issues and sudden shutdowns.
StubHub data indicates that nearly 80% of attendees prioritize protection when booking, suggesting that peace of mind is now a core requirement for the modern festival circuit.
