Dance music institutions pivot to humanitarian local support following back-to-back earthquakes in Venezuela that have left thousands dead or missing.
Following the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that hit Caracas and La Guaira, the electronic music community is shifting resources toward on-the-ground recovery. The scale of the crisis is immense, with over 1,400 confirmed dead and tens of thousands still missing.
Solid Grooves residents Miguelle & Tons are forfeiting their performance fees from the label’s upcoming DC-10 Ibiza show to fund aid organizations. Solid Grooves and DC-10 have also committed a portion of their July 2 proceeds to the relief effort, citing direct family ties to the region.
In Miami, Club Space is matching all contributions made to the Global Empowerment Mission in the venue’s name. For those booking through DICE, donation add-ons have been integrated into tickets for all shows through next weekend.
Direct support is being funneled toward humanitarian responses including UNICEF. Detailed lists of vetted organizations are currently being updated on the Solid Grooves site for those looking to contribute outside of event channels.
