Frank Carter III has passed away, leaving a significant void in the drum & bass circuit. The Virginia-born, New York-based vocalist was best known for his long-standing work with Ivy Lab, providing the emotional core for tracks like ‘Oblique’, ‘Afterthought’, and ‘Soul Sista’ starting in 2012.
His contributions spanned the genre's most respected labels, including Metalheadz and V Recordings. Ivy Lab credits Carter as a unique talent who brought necessary tenderness to the technical landscape of bass music. Goldie famously noted that Carter’s work on ‘Oblique’ captured the essential craft of the genre.
Beyond Ivy Lab, Carter collaborated with Enei, Pola & Bryson, and Adred, cementing his reputation as a reliable and versatile collaborator in both the D&B and house scenes. No cause of death has been made public.
