A 250-capacity multidisciplinary venue takes over the former Five Miles site, bringing precision acoustics to North London.
London studio collective Ten87 is launching Radial this month. Occupying the former site of Five Miles and Moko on Markfield Road, the venue fills a significant gap in Tottenham’s nightlife after securing funding from Arts Council England’s SGM scheme.
Technical specs take priority. The room features a bespoke 10-point soundsystem and acoustics designed by Nick Whitaker, the engineer responsible for Plastic People’s legendary sound. The aesthetic, led by SODA, draws influence from Olafur Eliasson’s ‘The Weather Project’ with warm, installation-focused lighting.
Functionality is split between 80 seats for active listening and 250 for club use. The programming aims at the intersection of performance and experimentation, covering sound-based wellness and artist workshops alongside standard club nights.
For Ten87, Radial is a logical extension of their recording studio community. It provides a formal platform for grassroots artists to transition from the studio to the stage in a room built for sonic fidelity.
