Pete Tong Denies John Summit's Remix Theft Allegations

Following claims from John Summit regarding a rework of Everything But The Girl, Pete Tong clarifies that the tracks were separate productions with no shared assets.

Pete Tong has broken his silence after John Summit accused him of 'jacking' a remix of Everything But The Girl’s classic 'Missing.' Summit took to X earlier this month to claim Tong and Franky Rizardo were lifting his work for their own version. Since then, Rizardo has pulled out of the project, stating he no longer felt right about the release. Tong’s team has rejected the narrative, calling the allegations unsupported by facts. According to a statement, Tong was exploring two distinct versions for his Ibiza Classics tour: a newly recorded production by Rizardo and a separate orchestral project with Summit. While the Rizardo track was slated for release, the collaboration with Summit reportedly stalled in May after his team ceased communication. To back his stance, Tong appeared on the Pete Tong DJ Academy channel sharing email logs. The evidence suggests Tong intended to support both versions at different times, rather than consolidated them into one. For now, the high-profile dispute leaves the future of any 'Missing' rework in limbo.
