Oliver Tree, the 32-year-old artist behind 'Miss You' and 'Life Goes On,' has died following a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro on June 14. The artist was traveling when his aircraft collided with a second helicopter mid-air; authorities report that all six people involved in the accident were killed.
Before becoming a mainstream fixture, Tree established his roots in the electronic underground. He debuted on R&S Records sister label Apollo in 2013 with the 'Demons' EP, a launchpad that eventually led to his genre-blurring Atlantic Records debut, 'Ugly Is Beautiful.' His workspace sat at the intersection of electro-pop, bass, and indie-alternative.
Tree was in the middle of a global tour supporting his fourth album, 'Love You Madly Hate You Badly,' when the crash occurred. Industry peers including Flying Lotus, Dillon Francis, and Zedd have shared tributes, citing his creative discipline and distinct visual persona as pillars of his career. Brazilian authorities currently have an investigation underway into the cause of the collision.
