Nikki Nair returns to solo territory with ‘The Sick Dimension,’ a four-track EP scheduled for an August 7 release via dh2. The project follows his collaborative stretch with Ahadadream and marks his first standalone effort since 2023.
The EP is an exercise in hardware-focused production. Nair describes the process as a return to his personal stash of oddball gear, intentionally ignoring external trends to focus on the sounds that initially sparked his interest in electronic music.
While Nair insists he set out to make standard house music, the result leans into the idiosyncratic sound design he’s known for. It’s a contrast of traditional 4/4 structures and high-fidelity textures that refuse to stay in a singular lane.
Lead single ‘Default Mode’ provides the blueprint for the EP’s direction. Across the record, the Atlanta producer maintains a balance between raw machine funk and the technical precision of modern club music.
