Grammy-nominated producer Brytavious Chambers, known professionally as Tay Keith, was found dead in his Nashville apartment on June 18.
Brytavious Chambers, the Memphis-born architect behind some of the last decade's most definitive rap productions, has died at age 29. Nashville police discovered Chambers in his home during a welfare check on Thursday. While an autopsy is pending, officials have currently ruled out foul play.
Chambers rose from producing for local collaborator BlocBoy JB to securing global dominance in 2018. His minimalist, heavy-hitting production style defined hits like Travis Scott’s 'Sicko Mode' and Drake’s 'Nonstop,' earning him a Grammy nomination and a consistent presence on the Billboard charts.
Beyond his work with superstars like Beyoncé and Eminem, Chambers was an entrepreneur. He co-founded Drumatized Music Group, a venture that recently landed him on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. His influence bridged the gap between raw Memphis underground aesthetics and mainstream pop appeal.
Tributes have surfaced from across the industry. BlocBoy JB has postponed his scheduled album release in honor of his lifelong friend, while Memphis veteran Juicy J cited Chambers as a legend of the city. His death marks a significant loss for the contemporary production landscape.
