A 4,000 sq ft industrial venue launches in Kelham Island with a Funktion-One Evolution X system and a mission to restore the city's nightlife.
Sheffield adds a new anchor to its clubbing landscape this weekend with the launch of Hangr. Located in the Kelham Island industrial district, the 4,000 sq ft warehouse space arrives at a critical juncture for the city following the closure of the historic Leadmill venue last year.
The technical specs prioritize high-fidelity output, featuring a flagship Funktion-One Evolution X sound system paired with a 30-meter overhead LED installation. The project has been in development for five years, aimed at providing a dedicated home for local electronic music culture in a climate where 73% of UK venues fail within three years.
The opening night—Saturday, June 13—is hosted by Sheffield-based promoters Kargo. The lineup features Eats Everything alongside Ella Knight and Andy Wadlow, signaling a focus on established house and techno talent to kick off the venue's residency.
