Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist Jaeho Hwang returns to CHINABOT with an LP that integrates shamanic percussion into industrial-leaning techno.
Jaeho Hwang, the Seoul-born producer known as HWXXNG, has released his latest full-length project 'K-Core' on the CHINABOT imprint. The album marks a continuation of his work blending traditional Korean aesthetics with contemporary electronic structures, a style he defines as 'Asian-Core.'
Hwang utilizes specific cultural markers like 'Samdo Nongak Garak' percussive suites and kkwaenggwari gongs. Rather than using these samples as static textures, he weaves them directly into the rhythmic skeleton of high-tempo techno and club-ready explorations.
The project follows his 2022 release 'Inner-self' and further develops themes of Buddhist philosophy and identity. The lead single 'Neo K-Core' serves as the record’s manifesto, setting the tone for a sound that is as much an archival study as it is a dancefloor tool.
'K-Core' is available now via CHINABOT. The release includes a visual accompaniment for the title track that mirrors Hwang’s interest in the intersection of digital life and heritage.
