Glasgow Institution The Garage Hits the Market After 30 Years

Glasgow Institution The Garage Hits the Market After 30 Years

Donald MacLeod is looking to pass the baton at the Sauchiehall Street staple, putting the 1,800-capacity venue up for sale to focus on other projects.

Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street is facing a major transition as The Garage, a fixture of the city’s nightlife since 1994, goes up for sale. Current owner Donald MacLeod is stepping back to focus on his other portfolios, including the Cathouse Club. Over its three-decade run, the four-story venue has maintained a massive 1,800-person capacity across rooms like G2 and The Attic. Its history is anchored by high-profile bookings ranging from Prince’s surprise appearance to sets by Kasabian and Biffy Clyro. While estate agents expect strong interest, the focus remains on whether new ownership will preserve the spirit of this cultural landmark. MacLeod cited the move as the right time to transition, leaving a significant gap in the Scottish circuit for potential buyers to fill.
