Eko Roosevelt: Cameroonian Funk Legend Headlines Tomorrowland's Melodia Stage

Cameroonian icon Eko Roosevelt is slated for a rare live set at Tomorrowland’s Melodia Stage on July 24. Marking his first performance since Nyege Nyege 2022, the disco pioneer will officially become the oldest artist to play the Belgian festival. Roosevelt’s work from 1976 to 1981 remains a blueprint for African synth-funk. A former director of the National Orchestra of Cameroon and longtime collaborator with Manu Dibango, his catalog recently found a new generation of listeners after Disclosure remixed his track 'Tondoho Mba' in 2020. The booking aligns with news of two essential reissues through the Delirious Ears label: 'Phone Me Tonight' and 'Lobé Mon Ami.' Both 1981 cuts are due July 3, supported by a new video shot within Roosevelt’s local community in La Lobé. While Tomorrowland 2026 leans heavily on its usual big-room staples, Roosevelt’s presence offers a necessary link to the historical roots of the global dancefloor.
