Deezer Opens Its AI Music Detector to Competitor Playlists

Streaming giant Deezer releases a free tool to identify synthetic tracks across 20 platforms, following data showing nearly half of users have AI audio in their libraries.

Deezer is expanding its campaign for streaming transparency by launching a free AI detection tool. The scanner works across 20 services, including Spotify and Apple Music, identifying synthetic audio via software artifacts with 99% reported accuracy. Internal data from the platform reveals that 43% of users migrating to Deezer already had AI-generated content in their saved playlists. Despite the influx of non-human uploads, 80% of listeners surveyed indicated they want these tracks clearly labeled. The initiative follows Deezer’s aggressive internal policy, which has already seen the platform demonetize roughly 85% of AI-generated streams. While competitors remain passive, Deezer is positioning itself as a gatekeeper for human-centric catalogs. With AI accounting for 44% of new music uploads, the tool serves as a reality check for listeners who might not realize how much of their rotation originates from an algorithm rather than a studio.
