The techno veteran contributes three tracks to a new animated version of the Orwell classic, marking his second collaboration with director Andy Serkis.
Carl Cox has pivoted from the booth to the big screen again, contributing three tracks to Andy Serkis’ new animated adaptation of Animal Farm. The film, which reimagines the political allegory as a coming-of-age comedy, features Cox compositions titled ‘The Rogues’, ‘Drone Farm’, and ‘My Bunker My Party’.
Serkis reportedly tapped Cox to score the specific moment in the narrative where the pigs take control, seeking to capture the energy of a dancefloor shift. It is a familiar partnership; Cox previously provided the track ‘Carnage’ for Serkis’ 2021 Marvel sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
While the film has faced a polarized critical reception since its US debut, Cox appears keen on further score work. Speaking on the process, he noted the creative freedom offered by working to a storyboard rather than a club environment. Animal Farm: A Cautionary Tail is out now in the UK and Ireland.
