Carl Cox Receives OBE for Contributions to Music

Industry veteran Carl Cox has been awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List, recognizing decades of influence in electronic music.

Carl Cox has been named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). The appointment, announced in the King’s Birthday Honours List, acknowledges his long-standing role in shaping global dance music culture. Cox’s ties to the crown date back to a £1,000 grant from the King’s Trust (then the Prince’s Trust) when he was 24, which helped launch his career. He recently revisited Buckingham Palace to mark the trust’s 50th anniversary. In his statement, Cox shared the recognition with the promoters, crews, and fans who have supported the scene's growth. Fellow UK mainstay Judge Jules was also honored with an MBE in the same cycle. Cox remains active on the circuit, starting a summer residency at [UNVRS] Ibiza this June. The run features back-to-back sessions with Nicole Moudaber, Chris Stussy, and Joseph Capriati.
