Simon Green previews 'Distance In Static' with two new singles, including a high-profile vocal team-up with Arooj Aftab.
Simon Green has announced his latest full-length project, 'Distance In Static,' arriving September 11 via Ninja Tune. To mark the announcement, the producer shared a pair of singles: ‘Fire on the Water,’ featuring Arooj Aftab, and the instrumental ‘Drift.’
‘Fire on the Water’ originated from a guitar loop recorded at Neil Young’s Broken Arrow Ranch. The track anchors a record that leans heavily on vocal textures, with upcoming contributions from Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, and Ichiko Aoba.
The collaboration with Aftab developed quickly in the California Redwoods, centered on lyrics by Yasra Rizvi. Green noted that the session served as the catalyst for the album's overall direction.
Bonobo will support the release with a North American tour hitting major hubs like Los Angeles and Portland. The live dates follow his high-concept residency at the Royal Albert Hall.
