New mobile tool Beatmatch PRO gamifies technical foundations, offering daily beatmatching challenges to sharpen timing without hardware.
Beatmatch PRO has launched as a free mobile utility designed to bridge the gap between software reliance and fundamental ear training. The app operates on a daily challenge model, tasking users to align the tempos of two tracks by ear with a precision score out of 100%.
Developed by Thomas Geoffrey Hobbs, the interface includes a free practice mode where users filter tracks by genre, region, and format. It functions as a low-stakes environment for beginners and touring DJs to maintain their technical edge while away from the booth.
While modern software handles the math, the app aims to preserve the manual skill set. By stripping away visual cues and waveforms, it pushes the focus back onto auditory perception. Leaderboards and social sharing add a competitive layer to the routine.
The project remains free and is currently open to music submissions and collaborations from producers looking to feature their tracks in the training pool.
