Van Buuren brings his 'face-to-face' technical rig to Ibiza this September, pivoting from traditional back-to-back sets to mirrored, head-on performances.
Armin van Buuren is ditching the standard B2B format for his September residency at [UNVRS] Ibiza. The 'face-to-face' (F2F) concept utilizes mirrored gear setups, positioning DJs directly opposite one another rather than side-by-side.
The lineup leans into varied textures, featuring Hannah Laing (Sept 7), Eli Brown (Sept 14), Argy (Sept 21), and Funk Tribu (Sept 28). The month-long run concludes with a solo performance on October 5.
Technically, the F2F approach aims to change the social and sonic friction between performers. By separating the hardware but keeping the visual proximity, it encourages a different kind of real-time improvisation than the shared-mixer standard.
